BATE Borisov host Ruh Brest in their first home game of the season in desperate need of three points. Last season’s runners-up have lost their first two games, going down 3-1 at Energetik-BGU Minsk and 2-1 away to Slavia Mozyr.
Ruh Brest won their first match 1-0 away to Dinamo Minsk but were beaten 1-0 at home by Energetik at the weekend. However, they will have hope of getting a result against an out-of-form BATE side.

BATE to finally get going
BATE, champions of Belarus a record 15 times, have made an unexpectedly poor start to the new campaign, losing to Energetik and then to Slavia Mozyr. However, both of those defeats came away from home so back at the Borisov Arena they will expect to return to winning ways.
Having failed to win the league title for the first time since 2005 last season when finishing second behind Dinamo Brest, BATE’s poor start means there is work to do already as they aim to regain their crown. But Kirill Alshevsky’s side should finally get up and running against opponents who have won one and lost one so far.
In what is the first competitive meeting between the sides, expect BATE to take the game to the Premier League newcomers, who were promoted from the second tier last term after finishing third.
Ruh Brest will be bracing themselves for a reaction from the home side, who will want to make a fast start on Saturday, and BATE to deliver in the HT/FT market looks attractive at odds of 21/20.

Even though BATE have been nowhere near their best in the first two games, they have still at least managed to get on the scoresheet in both and they seem likely to breach the Brest backline, with Willum Willumsson and Maksim Skavysh among their plentiful attacking threats.
Backing both to score seems wise at 5/4 considering that bet has come in all four of BATE’s games this season (two cup wins over Dinamo Minsk and the two league defeats).
Ruh’s results in the league have been a 1-0 win and 1-0 defeat but with BATE’s confidence fragile, they can expose their weaknesses at the back and register at least a goal on the road.
The loss last time against Energetik-BGU was the first time in four games Aleksandr Sednyov’s men had failed to find the back of the net, a run which included two solid friendly wins away from home in the build-up to the new campaign and an impressive opening league win at Dinamo Minsk. So selecting a home win with both teams to score, on offer at 13/5, could pay off.
BATE fearsome at home
The match result odds reveal BATE are big favourites to win and, even though they have started poorly, their squad still contains more quality than that of Ruh Brest.
The visiting side were an amateur outfit just four years ago and were a feeder club for their more established city neighbours Dinamo Brest up until last year so getting anything off BATE would probably rank as one of this young club’s best results.
BATE should, however, put them in their place and maintain an impressive home record, which yielded 12 wins from 15 at the Borisov Arena in 2019.
