UK Sport funding:£7,467,860

2012 performance: 1 medal (1 bronze)

The story since: Highly encouraging. Although it did not loosen China’s iron grip on the sport, a haul of one gold and three bronze medals at last year’s World Championships was good enough for second spot in the medal table. That was backed up by two bronze medals at the Fina World Cup in February, both in the synchronised 10-metre platform for the pairings of Tom Daley and Daniel Goodfellow and Tonia Couch and Sarah Barrow.

Gold medal hopes:Daley and Jack Laugher both won individual bronze medals at the World Championships, but it would take a huge upset to convert those into Olympic gold.

Star in the making: At 19 years old, Goodfellow is likely to reprise his World Cup bronze-medal winning partnership with Daley in the synchronised 10-metre platform.

Our prediction: 2 medals
