The story since: Daniel Fogg won gold in the 5km event at the 2014 European Championships but Jack Burnell has led the charge with a number of podium finishes in Fina World Cup events. His fifth-placed finish at last year’s World Championships qualified him for the Olympics. For the women, Keri-Anne Payne, who won bronze at the inaugural Olympic event in Beijing and finished fourth at London 2012, missed out on automatic qualification after coming 15th at the World Championships.
